Lonzo Ball and the Lakers literally took their lumps from their first encounter against the Golden State Warriors this season.
Ball suffered a bloody gash above his left eye that required three stitches following the Warriors’ 127-123 overtime win over the Lakers on Wednesday night at Staples Center. And fellow rookie Kyle Kuzma didn’t even get to play with NBA Christmas jerseys after he was a late scratch because of back spasms that flared up after he went through his pregame routine warm-up. The Lakers decided to keep the forward out to receive treatment.
Ball’s injury occurred while diving for a loose ball with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, before also banging his head and spirit jersey wholesale on the floor. He had the cut patched up during a timeout with 7:21 left in the third quarter before returning.
“It was a loose ball, got elbowed in the head,” said Ball, who played 43 minutes. “Put some stitches and I will be all right.”
In his first game against Curry and the Warriors, Ball had one of his best custom NBA jerseys cheap games of the season with 15 points and 10 assists while shooting 5-for-12 and 3-for-7 from 3-point range. Ball buried consecutive treys and scored eight straight points before suffering the gash.
“He has been shooting the lights out in practice the last week or so,” Lakers coach Luke Walton said of Ball, who came into the game shooting 30.9 percent from the field and just 24.5 percent from 3. “I told him before the NBA jerseys wholesale game, I said, ‘Zo, you are going to be one of the best point guards in this league. You are. So embrace this challenge.’ ”
Curry said he reached out to Bryant, because he knew the former Lakers star had dealt with a similar injury during his career. According to Curry, Bryant told him it was possible to play with the injury if it’s wrapped and padded, but that it was one of the more painful injuries he’d experienced in his career and NBA Christmas jerseys wholesale, and that it did not heal quickly.
Bryant repeatedly chose to play with the injury, thereby declining surgery on his finger. Curry did not say whether his finger injury was severe enough to consider surgery, but stressed that he intended to continue playing through it. The challenge going forward will be pain management, and adjusting to playing with tape and padding on his shooting hand, Curry said.
“It hurts,” Curry said. “But guys have played through worse than this. Obviously with your shooting hand, it’s one of those things you got to get adjusted to. I’m not used to playing with tape, a brace, wrist wrap, all that stuff. But I’ll get better with NBA Christmas jerseys.”

Curry finished with 28 points on 9-for-20 shooting. But he struggled mightily early in the sports jerseys wholesale game, airballing three times and missing eight of his first 12 shots. The Heat made the announcement Friday, one day before opening a six-game homestand. He was injured in Miami’s season-opening loss Wednesday at Orlando, a game in which he finished with 26 points and 22 rebounds.
Injuries are piling up for the Heat already. Small forward Rodney McGruder had surgery earlier this week for a stress fracture in his leg and is out indefinitely. And shooting guard Dion Waiters is still dealing with NBA Christmas jerseys and ankle sprains, an injury that ended his season early a year ago.
Going forward, Whiteside will be listed as day-to-day.
